Women’s Competitive Rowing
We make boats go faster. We value commitment to competitive goals and have fun while taking rowing seriously.
Train as a team, improve technique, and race in local and national regattas like the Head Of The Charles and USRowing Masters Nationals. As a master’s rowing team, we have more options for racing across different age categories. We learn from each other across our rowing careers and foster a team culture that values each person’s contribution.

- Ideally, athletes will have at least two years of rowing or coxing under their belt, with some racing experience. Individuals are evaluated on attitude, coachability, fitness, erg scores, technique, and competitive spirit.
- Tryouts typically occur in late March. For more tryout options, please reach out to our co-captains at cwcaptains@communityrowing.org. Experienced coxswains may join the team at any time.
- Our season runs from late March through early November. Training together is an essential component of our success. We recognize our teammates’ work and family commitments and try to provide a balanced training approach.
- We encourage team members to volunteer for CRI events and initiatives throughout the year. This is an essential part of our community. Learn more about volunteering here.
Gender Policy: Per CRI’s policies, athletes participate in rowing practices with the team (Men’s or Women’s) that best matches their expressed gender identity. This is regardless of the gender listed on the athlete’s birth certificate and regardless of whether the athlete has undergone any medical treatment. However, per USRowing policies, Women’s/Girls’ competitive events (races or regattas), are limited to athletes who were assigned a sex at birth of female. If you have questions, please reach Ted Benford, Executive Director.
