Crew League - Spring/Fall/Winter

Youth Crew League is a recreational, noncompetitive, coed program for rowers who have completed either Youth Learn to Row Sweeps or Youth Learn to Scull. Crew League builds upon and continues to develop and refine the basic skills acquired in Learn to Row Sweep and Learn to Scull.
Youth Crew League is for kids who have completed either a learn to sweep or learn to scull program or who have already rowed recreationally. In crew league sessions, rowers will continue to develop their knowledge of the fundamentals of sweeps or sculling, building on their rowing technique. They will gain a deeper understanding of boat skills, safety rules of the river, navigation and balance.
Spring and Fall Crew League is offered during the week after-school and on weekends. It is offered in after-school and weekend sessions, and runs for 6 weeks. Kids who are looking for more connection to the sport will be given bodyweight exercises, stretches and mobility exercises that they can complete at home each week, and which will contribute to improving their strength and flexibility on the water.
Winter Crew League meets at CRI on the weekends, and sessions will focus on rowing technique, developed on stationary rowing machines. Athletes should be prepared with a water bottle and clothes for both indoor and outdoor activity. The winter program workouts will emphasize building the strength, mobility, and flexibility that are critical to rowing (and a variety of other sports)!
Crew League rowers who would like to continue rowing during the summer are eligible to sign up for our Summer Skills Development Clinics, in which they continue to build on rowing technique, boat skills, safety rules of the river, and fitness.
