Tom Demers

Tom started rowing in 2005 on the Charles River during a summer camp at Union Boat Club in Boston. Soon after, he took it up as a full-time sport. He helped to start and grow a local rowing club in Lawrence, MA, which he captained for two seasons.

Tom went on to row at Northeaster University in Boston in the first Freshman 8+. After injuries caused him to stop rowing before his sophomore season At Northeastern, he started coaching at CRI with the para outreach programs. From there his duties at the boathouse grew. He has worked with many programs at CRI from Learn to Row to Sweeps II programs. Tom is also a vital portion of CRI's outreach staff, working closely with our para rowing programs, OWL on the Water, and Row Boston. Tom graduated from the Institute for Rowing Leadership in 2015, completing his practicum with Row Boston. Tom is now the Row Boston Assistant Coach for the Varsity teams and helps with all aspects of Row Boston operations. Tom is an alternate for the U.S. Para Rowing National Team.
