Parenting Adolescents: Fostering Resilience During Times of Adversity, Uncertainty and Transition

May is Mental Health Awareness month. CRI hosted a panel of mental health specialists on May 20th to have a discussion with parents about adolescent mental health and resilience. Resilience is one of CRI's core values because we believe that building skills to cope with and adapt to challenges leads to meaningful growth and improved well-being. Parents can be invaluable in cultivating resilience in adolescence. The hour-long program included a short introduction to the concept of resilience as it relates to adolescent mental health and then used the rest of the time answering questions from parents.

This event was not recorded.

An Evening with Steven Dowd

Join us for an evening with Steven Dowd, fresh from hosting his first global EnduRow Challenge, a four-hour marathon erg event to benefit research for spinal cord injury (SCI) through the Wings for Life Organization.

Steven sustained a devastating spinal cord injury in a 2016 cycling accident that left him with no movement or sensation below the neck and a bleak prognosis. He underwent a clinical research trial and regained some sensation, and began a journey towards mobility. Today, Steven helps others by raising awareness for SCI and creating a series of charity challenge events in support of research to help others like himself beat the odds.

Locker Room Talk: A Woman's Struggle to Get Inside

Rower Melissa Ludtke takes us back to the 1970s, when as a reporter with Sports Illustrated, she took Major League Baseball into federal court to gain equal access that she needed to interview ballplayers in their locker rooms, as male colleagues did. Today, women sports broadcasters, sportswriters and columnists continue to confront misogyny for offering opinions about sports, including threats of rape and even death.
