Harry Parker Boathouse Rental Information

CRI’s Community Room is located in the stunning Harry Parker Boathouse on the banks of the Charles River in Boston—recognized by the Boston Globe as the best new building in the city in 2009 and featured in Boston Magazine’s 2014 wedding issue. With beautiful balconies overlooking the water and windows that frame the setting sun and provide a stunning 150 degree view of the river, CRI has one of the most elegant and inviting spaces in Boston. Plan your event in a venue that is as special as your celebration! We are currently booking events through October 2020.

Equipment included with rental (to be set up & broken down by client):

  • 20 round tables, 5' diameter, seating 8 each (10 maximum)
  • 6 rectangular tables, 8' long, approximately 2.5' wide, seating 8-10 each
  • 180 folding white wooden chairs, cushioned seats

CRI maintains a galley kitchen with noncommercial appliances including refrigerator.

CRI does not have a preferred caterer. We require that any caterer be licensed in accordance with Massachusetts Department of Health regulations. The caterer or the renter must remove all decorations, food, trash, and cooking or serving items from CRI property immediately after the event. Failure to do so will result in withholding of all or part of the security deposit.

Private Event Permits & Fees

  • Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) Special Use Permit—$45
  • One Day Liquor License from the City of Boston—$75 if you are only serving beer and wine, $150 if you are serving any other type of alcoholic beverage
  • A police detail is $220 for 0-4 hours and $440 for 5-8 hours

The CRI Event Manager will email you the DCR Special Use Permit application and the One-Day Liquor License application upon your request. CRI will also hire a police detail, which is required for all events.

Liquor may be served but not sold in any manner whatsoever, directly or indirectly (such as by chits at the door, contributions). Keg beer is not permitted at any event. If any alcohol is served, the renter (licensee), caterer, or bartender must provide CRI with a certificate of liquor liability insurance in the minimum amount of $1,000,000, naming Community Rowing, Inc. as an additional insured. CRI requires that you hire a professional bartender if alcohol is served. Liquor delivery should be arranged to coincide with the caterer’s arrival. All liquor left after an event must be removed from CRI premises. CRI may deduct from the security deposit for failure to adhere to this policy.
