CRI Coach Talk 4 - 2/20/19

by Patrick Larcom

CRI Coach Talk 4 Craft BeerMMMmmm... Craft Beer and Pulled Pork!  Thanks to everyone who came out to CRI Coach Talk 4 with Coach Jesse Foglia from Harvard in February. We had some cold brews thanks to our friends at Craft Beer Cellar and some delicious pulled pork with corn bread.

Coach Jesse gave a great talk that included everything from how we setup our practices, communicate with our athletes, and how to prioritize what we coach and care about.  An important question we looked at was the difference between Technique and Style.  The best part was the video review and discussion we had looking at the USA U19 8+ and the Harvard 4V.

Last but not least, be on the lookout for a secret drill ... "The Screaming Eagle!"

CRI Coach Talk 4 - Live Stream Recording on YouTube

CRI Coach Talk 4
Wednesday, February 20th
7:00pm - 8:30pm
@CRI's Harry Parker Boathouse

Topic: Creating Your Version of the Stroke and Implementing It
Presenter: Jesse Foglia, Assistant Coach, Harvard Men's Heavyweight Crew
Facilitator: Tom Siddall - IRL Fellow 2019

Description: Come share in a discussion with Jesse Foglia on why having a clear idea of your stroke is important and how you can best articulate it from the launch. He'll review how to create your vision of the rowing stroke and ways to implement that vision during practice. This will be an interactive presentation!

Questions for Coaches to think about in preparation:
1. Have you defined your stroke?
2. How do you articulate the stroke cycle?
3. What questions do you still have post Coach Talk 3?

We'll be meeting in the CRI Classroom to share some delicious food, a drink or two from Craft Beer Cellar, and talk about rowing. This invitation is open to any coaches that can make it from along the river, at CRI, and in the area. Come ready to connect with fellow coaches, share ideas from personal experience, and learn from others. Please signup and share this with other coaches that might be interested.
