Dan is a 12 year United States Army combat veteran who enlisted in the United States Army on September 12, 2001 after the terrorist attacks on New York City and full time professional firefighter at Joint Base Cape Cod.

 He is also a founding member of the Skate for the 22 Foundation, whose mission is the prevention of suicide among military veterans.

Dan holds a degree in sociology from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in North Adams Massachusetts.
