CRI Call for New Board Members 2021

Seeking Nominations

Community Rowing is seeking new members to join its Board of Directors. The board has established a Governance, Leadership, and Nominating (GL&N) committee charged with identifying and engaging future leaders of CRI. The GL&N committee will select a slate of six to ten candidates, prioritizing candidates with the skill sets we have prioritized to help the board most effectively fulfill its duties.

For this year's election, the board will elect three new directors and the members will elect two directors, all from the slate assembled by the GL&N committee. Closer to the Annual Meeting date of March 31, 2021., we will announce the details of this year's membership election, with the goal of ensuring the process is inclusive.

The board is responsible to the corporation and to the public for ensuring that CRI carries out its mission in a safe, legal and financially responsible manner. We expect board members to be active stewards of the organization, to chair or participate in board committees and to contribute financially to the best of their ability. This year, the board is looking for individuals with fundraising/development experience, as well as those will connections to the communities in the Boston area that we serve. Nomination of individuals with other skill sets such as accounting, strategic planning, business/sports management and non-profit governance is also encouraged. Rowing experience is not required, however a passion for CRI’s mission and appreciation for the sport of rowing is essential.
